The Soundtrack for Falling in Love – with Yourself!

My Summer of Self Love was a bit of a bust. Life just got in the way, and that’s okay! Self love and self care are still huge issues of importance to me though, and I want to inspire my readers to prioritize loving themselves. So instead of the summer of self love, I’m going to ask you to FALL in love with yourself! #fallinlovewithyourself

Let’s all claim fall as a season of self love, where we tend to our needs before others, and fill our own cups.

The Positive Power of Music

There is so much to discuss when it comes to self love, but I wanted to start with music. Have you ever noticed the impact music has on your life? Your mood? Your productivity?

Music is powerful. Science has shown thatΒ happy music can make us happier, and sad music can make us sadder. According to Psychology Today, the right kind of music can help reduce anxiety, fight depression, and boost our immune system. Isn’t that amazing?

Good tunes motivate me at the gym, make sitting in traffic more tolerable, and can turn any mundane moment (like preparing dinner for my kids) into a dance party!Β I have some mental health struggles, but I have found that the more I listen to music, the better I feel about life. Music even played a crucial role in my weight loss success.

I have also found that what you listen to is very important. Not just any old song will do. Today I’m sharing songs that will inspire you, motivate you, lift you up, and help you love you more! Check out my list and then please leave more suggestions in the comments!

(The links I’ve included in this post are all to Spotify – my favorite free way to listen to music! But I’m sure most, if not all, of these songs can be found and/or purchased elsewhere.)

The Soundtrack for Falling in Love with Yourself

Without further adieu, here’s your soundtrack for falling in love with yourself! πŸ™‚

Love Myself by Hailee Steinfeld – Hailee is at the top of my list when it comes to self love songs. I discovered her randomly on Spotify and I love this track! “Gonna love myself, no, I don’t need anybody else!” She repeatedly sings “I love me!” – a phrase we all should sing more often!

Fight Song by Rachel Platten – Oh Rachel. <3 Much love for this beautiful singer and this beautiful song! If you are going through any kind of tough time and need to gather your courage – sing this one at the top of your lungs! “This is my fight song …Β Take back my life song …Β Prove I’m alright song …Β My power’s turned on …Starting right now I’ll be strong …”

Brave by Sara Bareilles – More courage-inducing girl power! This might be a song to share with your sisters and best girlfriends. “I want to see you be brave …” What could we all accomplish if we loved ourselves, believed in ourselves, and were truly brave?

Confident by Demi Lovato Β – Definitely a song for strutting your stuff! πŸ˜‰ “What’s wrong with being confident?”

Worth It by Fifth Harmony – Need a confidence boost before asking for a raise? “Give it to me I’m worth it! Baby I’m worth it!”

Flawless by Beyonce – I feel like Beyonce should be self-explanatory when it comes to self love. πŸ˜‰ I could add ten more of her songs to this list and a have a few leftover. Listen to this one while you’re getting ready to go out on date night! “I woke up like this … we flawless!”Β

Me Too by Meghan Trainor – Meghan got the self love message loud and clear! πŸ™‚ “I thank God every day that I woke up feeling this way … And I can’t help loving myself and I don’t need nobody else ..”Β

Bonus tracks: Run the World (Girls) by Beyonce; Feeling Myself by Nikki Minaj; Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys; Don’t Need Nobody by Ellie Goulding.
